FOR 19th time, Singapore has been named "Best Seaport in Asia" at the 21st Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards organised by Cargonews Asia.
Singapore received the award because it met the highest standards of cost competitiveness and had the most container-friendly regime. Singapore also provided more timely and better investment opportunities in port infrastructure than its rivals. It also stood out for its ancillary services including logistics and freight forwarding.
Tay Lim Heng, CEO of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, said: "We are delighted that our shipping and transportation industry partners have again re-affirmed Singapore as their port of choice in Asia. We will continue to build upon what we have achieved to do even better. With the support from our maritime partners, the MPA will work harder to ensure that the Port of Singapore remains an attractive port of call in all aspects."
The awards are designed to honour organisations for demonstrating leadership, as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability.
