AIR France-KLM has issued its financial year 2006-2007 results. The group¨s revenues went up 7.6 per cent to US$31 billion. Operating income increased by 32.5 per cent to US$1.67 billion.
On the
cargo side, the airline group has had a difficult year. The company said competition increased, ^both from other air carriers and from shipping", while the strong euro weighed on European exports, especially to Asia. Measures were taken to adapt capacity, which went up by 0.6 per cent, against traffic up 1.4 per cent. The cargo load factor was 66.6 per cent.
Air France-KLM Cargo carried 1.5 million tonnes (up 2.1 per cent) and generated revenues of US$3.9 billion (up 0.9 per cent). Operating income amounted to US$83 million compared with US$223 million a year earlier. This was attributed to a ^weak level of unit revenue and the impact of the fuel bill".
Unit revenue per tonne kilometre rose 0.9 per cent and unit revenue per available tonne kilometre by 1.8 per cent. Unit cost per available tonne kilometre rose by 0.6 per cent on a constant currency and fuel price basis.
