On May 22 Evgeni Moskvichev, the RF deputy minister of transport, and the representatives of the Estonian Ministry of Economy and Communications discussed cargo transportation problems.
During the talks E.Moskvichev announced that by the results of 2006 compared to 2005 the volume of cargo transported by car between Russia and Estonia increased by 18.7% and totaled 1218.2 thousand tons.
In January-March of the current year compared to the last year same period the volume of cargo transported between Russia and Estonia grew by 15.3% and amounted to 299.1 thousand tons.
By E.Moskvichev's estimate, the infrastructure of the check-point at the Russian-Estonian border does not fit cargo turnover. For instance, it is difficult to cross the control point Ivangorod due to the emergency condition of the bridge across the river Narva.
The participants of the talks came to an agreement to make an examination of the bridge.
