Gazprom considers Japan a partner for the implementation of its Eastern Program, particularly, in the building of gas and chemical production facilities in Eastern Russia, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee Alexander Ananenkov said at a presentation of Japan's energy policy conducted by the Japanese Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, the gas holding's press office reported today.
During the presentation, the parties discussed hydrocarbon supplies to Japan, including those from Russia, the use of alternative fuels, the development of Japan's gas transportation system, and energy saving, as well as the gas and chemical products market in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
Ananenkov also met with the head of the Japanese Agency for Natural Resources and Energy Shinsuke Kitagawa to discuss cooperation in creating a unified system of gas extraction, transportation and supply in eastern Siberia and the Far East and possible gas exports to Asia-Pacific as part of the Eastern Program. The head of the Japanese agency and Gazprom's Deputy Chairman also addressed issues related to the Sakhalin-2 project.
