China Southern, TravelSky & Baiyun Airport Ink New Deal; Form New Guangzhou Airport IT Company
POSTED: 11:16 a.m. EDT, September 26,2007
China Southern Airlines, the 9th largest airline in the world and the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, has announced a new agreement with Guangdong Airport Management Corporation and TravelSky Technology Limited for a new joint venture company focused on departure service - Guangzhou Airport Airspan Information Technology Company Limited.

The new venture will open Baiyun International Airport to new technologies and resources from the airport authority, China Southern and TravelSky's aviation information service company. The new triad formed company will jointly develop and operate the airport departure system.

A safe and reliable departure system is of critical importance for both airline and airport companies as they work to streamline on-time flights and offer a positive passenger air travel experience.

The current departure system at Baiyun International Airport was launched on August 5, 2004 with the opening of the $3 billion aviation complex. The system uses a state-of-the-art joint-platform departure system, supporting operations of multiple background host computers, jointly sharing all the foreground departure work stations and peripheral equipment.

Additionally, the system has the functions of controlling airport departure flights; passenger check-in and boarding; load & balance calculation; load sheet generation; passenger and luggage information.

It also allows for e-ticketing and VIP services; self-service check-in, wireless mobile departure information, remote allopatric check-in and luggage reconfirmation with emergency backup functions available when the departure host computers come across any discontinuity.

The new joint-venture company will work to build an even safer, smoother and quicker departure service at Baiyun International Airport. The new company plans to build on the current technological and customer service advantages and work to build up Baiyun International Airport as one of the best airports in the world.
