Cosco to account for half of Prince Rupert throughput
POSTED: 4:23 p.m. EDT, July 27,2007

The Prince Rupert Port Authority expects China Ocean Shipping (Cosco) to account for half of the initial handling capacity of 500,000 TEUs a year to be provided by the new Fairview Container Terminal once the line begins service to the British Columbia port this fall.

The first Cosco vessel is expected to arrive in late September or early October.

But it is not known whether Cosco will increase its 250,000 TEUs throughput further once phase 2 development is completed.
