In the first half of the year, the total value of foreign trade in Fujian province rose 16.7 per cent year on year to US$33.89 billion, Logistics Week reports, quoting figures from Fuzhou Customs.
Within this total, the value of exports grew 21.8 per cent to $22.94 billion, while the value of imports rose by 7.3 per cent to $10.95 billion.
Over the same period, the value of Xiamen's foreign trade increased by 21.5 per cent to $18.29 billion and accounted for 66.9 per cent of the province's total, becoming a key driver of the Fujian's foreign trade growth.
The US, Europe, Japan, Asean countries and Hong Kong were cited as being the top five markets for Fujian exports.
Statistics also show that high-tech products, machinery and electronic products have been making up a larger part of the export cargo.
