From January to June, the cumulative value of Shanxi province's foreign trade surged ahead by 83.78 per cent to US$5.23 billion, ranking the province 16th in China.
Shanxi's foreign trade growth was 60.5 per cent higher than the national average of 23.3 per cent, making it the fastest-growing province in terms of the amount of foreign trade handled in China, Logistics Week reports.
Within the total, the value of export cargo jumped 64.84 per cent to $2.95 billion, while the value of imports soared 115.7 per cent year on year to $2.28 billion, generating a trade surplus of $660 million.
The processing trade accumulated a value of $1.57 billion. Within this total, the value of exports amounted to $907 million, while the value of imports grew to $660 million, representing 30.2 per cent of the province's aggregate import value. The value of general trade rose by 47.67 per cent to $3.55 billion.
