The value of containers manufactured in China for export doubled in the first quarter of this year to US$1.82 billion, according to statistics from the mainland's General Administration of Customs.
During the first quarter, the volume of manufactured containers passing through China's port for export rose by 86.1 per cent over the same quarter a year ago to 600,000 TEU, reports Xinhua.
Containers manufactured in Guangdong and Tianjin accounted for the largest share of China's export market in this particular trade.
This comes after Nansha in Guangdong province opened a new container manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of 150,000 TEU in late March.
The report said China dominates the global production of containers with the highest container output and sales volume in the world. The mainland's major export markets for containers are Hong Kong, the European Union, the United States and Japan.
