Shanghai processing trade growth slows 10.6pc

AS more products are banned by Beijing in the processing trade, growth in the Shanghai trade value in the first eight months slowed by 10.6 per cent year on year, Xinhua reported.

In this period, Shanghai's processing trade value rose 13 per cent. Exports rose 15.5 per cent, 11.8 per cent slower than the growth in the same period in 2006. Imports went up 8 per cent, 8.8 per cent slower than the growth in the corresponding period last year.



Trade with the European Union rose 29 per cent, taking 21.6 per cent in the total of Shanghai's trade value. Exports rose 31.3 per cent while imports grew 25.4 per cent to $23 billion. Trade with US went up 15.9 per cent while exports rose 17 per cent.
