Lianyungang-Russia rail container service launched
POSTED: 8:43 a.m. EDT, October 17,2007
CHINA Shipping Group and China Railway Container Transport Co Ltd jointly launched a direct rail container service from the eastern port city of Lianyunggang into Russia.

The new service uses trains that can carry 96 TEU. The journey from Lianyungang to Russia lasts 25 days, 20 days less than the time for ocean shipping.

The Xinhua report said the service not only facilitates trade between China's Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta and Russia but also provides greater convenience for cargo shipped from Korea, Japan and US to Russia.
