Ansaldo STS wins a high speed rail contract in Spain

The Spanish Ministry of Development, through ADIF Alta Velocidad, has awarded to the Joint-Venture formed by Ansaldo STS, a Finmeccanica Company, and Instalaciones Inabensa a signalling contract worth EUR 47 Million to deploy and maintain ERTMS signalling systems on the high speed line connecting La Robla and Pola de Lena.
The contract comprises the design, installation and maintenance of the ERTMS level 2 signalling systems and associated equipment on the 51km high speed line. It also includes the connection with the section Santibanez - La Robla related to the conventional line connecting the cities of Venta de Banos and Gijon.
Ansaldo STS, as leader of the joint-venture, is responsible for the management of the project and provides the ERTMS level 2 solution combined with the local ASFA train protection system, the Traffic Control Centre, the Computer Based Interlocking and the Auxiliary detection System. It is also in charge for the overall system maintenance during the first year period.
Instalaciones Inabensa is responsible for the supply and installation of the Fixed Telecom, the Power Supply, Civil Works, CCTV, Access Control and Point Heating System.
The project is due for completion within 28 months from the contract signature date. Ansaldo STS supports ADIF and Renfe in the development of High Speed rail network and deployment of ERTMS technology in Spain since 2002 with the introduction of the first ERTMS level 1 and 2 solution on the Madrid-Lerida High Speed Line (460 km).
