FOLLOWING a shareholders' meeting, the board of Italian Railway Network (RFI) announced on July 24 that it has appointed Mr Maurizio Gentile as the infrastructure manager's new CEO.
A graduate in hydraulic civil engineering, 59-year-old Gentile has been employed by Italian State Railways (FS) since 1982 and held various positions, mainly in infrastructure civil works in Bologna and Florence. He subsequently became RFI's maintenance director before taking charge of investments last year.
Gentile succeeds Mr Michele Elia, who was appointed CEO of FS last month.
