The Park Lane Hotel in Hong Kong has just completed a New Zealand Food and Wine promotion, held between March 3 and 30, at their fine dining restaurant. New Zealand seafood, meat, wine, cheese, honey and water were featured in the promotion.
New Zealand trade commissioner in Hong Kong, Sharon-May McCrostie, says the restaurant manager said the promotion was well received by their customers. "Over 70 percent of their customers chose the New Zealand menu, when dining in during the promotional period."
The promotion was originally planned for late 2008 but the hotel brought it forward to March, due to the success of an earlier New Zealand promotion run in late 2007. The promotion was supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
The city of Hong Kong has one of the highest dining out frequencies in the world with over 10,000 catering establishments in Hong Kong alone. The hotel and restaurant industry is an important distribution channel for New Zealand food and beverage products in Hong Kong, with over half of New Zealand exports supplied to the industry.
