China Maritime 2008 will be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from March 12-14 to showcase the latest in shipping, port and ship building activities.
Organizers say over 130 major suppliers and service providers to shipping, from over 18 countries, will be displaying their products, launching new technologies and actively looking for new customers from Asia at the expo.
The event will covers shipbuilding, engines and propulsion systems, ship repair, interior furnishing, marine equipment, electronic communication and navigation, classification societies and open registries.
Neil Baird, CEO of Baird Communications and organizer of the event, said: "Asia is very much the manufacturing centre of the world. This makes it of fundamental importance to the maritime industry.
"More and more of Europe's innovative high quality marine equipment manufacturers and naval architects are manufacturing in China, India and Southeast Asia. Those who are not tend to be dying off."
Hong Kong was selected as the venue for the exhibition as the city's ship-owners and managers control 61.5 million deadweight tonnes of the world's commercial fleet. Hong Kong port is the focus of the Pearl River Delta, covering Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Macau, Zhongshan, Doumen, Jiangmen, Hudong, Maoming, Shantou, Zhanjing and Zhujai.
