Korea and Canada are scheduled to hold working-level talks next week to discuss the possible resumption of Canadian beef imports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the National Veterinary Research Quarantine Service on Wednesday, officials from Korea and Canada are to hold a two-day meeting starting Nov. 22.
Back in 2003, Korea banned Canadian beef shipments following the confirmation of a case of mad cow disease in Canada.
Canada, however, secured the "controlled risk" country title in May and since then the country has been requesting Asian countries including Korea to reopen their markets to Canadian beef. |
