Sovcomflot takes delivery of three product carriers built by STX Shipbuilding Co. (Korea)

On November 2, Sovcomflot took delivery of three product carriers built by STX Shipbuilding Co. (Korea), Sovcomflot's press center reports. Ice-class tankers are designed for marine transportation of oil products from Russian ports of the North-Western and Far-Eastern regions. The lead vessel of the series (SKF Neva) is already deployed for transportation of oil products from the Vitino port (Murmansk region). The new tankers are to serve export flows of Russian oil companies Gazpromneft and Rosneft. The tankers are capable of carrying up to 6 different types of oil products.

Sovcomflot OJSC is one of the largest Russian infrastructure companies. The company's fleet numbers 66 vessels with a total deadweight exceeding 4.5 million tonnes. The company's backlog of orders consists of 17 vessels with a total deadweight of 1.4 million tonnes. Sovcomflot specializes in sea transportation of energy sources. 44 vessels of the fleet are tankers.

STX Shipbuilding Co.,Ltd is a shipbuilding company, part of STX Corporation which holds the control stock of Norway-based Aker Yards. The company specializes in construction of vessels with displacement from 30,000 to 80,000 tonnes. Annual production is 40 vessels. Throughout its existence the yard built over 5,000 different vessels.
