Interview with Mr. Sean Deane, Event Manager of TOC Asia 2011

2011-2-17

JCtrans: We know The Terminal Operations Conference & Exhibition (TOC) is the longest-running series of trade events for the international shipping, port and terminal communities in the world. Will you please make a brief introduction of TOC Asia?

Mr. Deane: TOC Asia forms part of the TOC Events global portfolio. TOC Asia has been held in various locations throughout the Greater Asia region for 16 years. The last 4 TOC Asia events have been held in China. TOC Asia brings the whole of the Asian region together to discuss the trends and developments within the container terminal and shipping and logistics industries with an emphasis on local issues but with a global perspective.

JCtrans: TOC America was just finished on 11 November 2010. And it achieved a great success. Would you please talk about what we should expect at TOC Asia? Is there something special in this event?

Mr. Deane: TOC Americas 2010 was indeed a success and we are looking to carry on the high level of discussion and networking we offer at TOC Events. In recognition of Tianjin and the Bohai region becoming the latest and most developed area in China for logistics, we will be introducing, within our Conference Programme, the Deliver China Seminar in conjunction with our Knowledge Partners the Global Institute of Directors. This will be examining the impact of logistics movements within China and the impact of imports as well as export of goods and how this affects trends and economies globally.

JCtrans: TOC has hosted events for many years, and must accumulate a wealth of experience. Then will you please talk about the current situation of logistics industry?

Mr. Deane: The logistics industry has shown great signs of growth and development after recent turbulent economic times. We are reflecting this at our events with a greater take up of stands and delegates wanting to know the latest growth trends in the industry.

JCtrans: It is must be a great work to organize such an influential exhibition. So will you please talk about the most impressive thing at TOC Asia?

Mr. Deane: The most impressive aspect of TOC Asia is the bringing together of the many stakeholders in the logistics industry and from all areas of the Asia and the World. For over 14 years TOC Asia has been the leading event in the region and continuously continues to grow and attract the major influencers in the industry. This is always very satisfying as organizers.

JCtrans: 2011 has started now. Will you please talk about your strategic plan in this year?

Mr. Deane: Our strategic plan is to grow our events and to fully encompass the logistics industry within TOC Events globally. We are proud to announce the launch of TOC Middle East taking place in Dubai in September 2011 and also the full launch of TOC Container Shipping Conference which will debut in TOC Europe in June 2011. These are all new developments will continue to sustain the growth in our events and keep TOC Events as global knowledge leaders in this industry sector.
