United Parcel Service (UPS) has relocated transpacific hub in Taiwan's Taoyuan International Airport in line with plans to build an integrated air network across Asia, connecting Taiwan to markets in Asia, Europe and the US.
The hub operates 28 weekly cargo flights connecting Taiwan to key global markets. UPS said customers can expect a one to two day delivery commitment to major cities in the US and Europe.
Situated at the airport's air cargo terminal logistics warehouse, the hub occupies 7,618 square metres, reported Atlanta area Air Cargo World.
"The new hub is expected to increase export processing capacity by more than 40 per cent, while also doubling the processing capacity of import handling," managing director Anita Li said.
"With export growth looking strong, UPS remains committed to supporting our customers across all sectors, and we continue to invest in our capabilities and infrastructure to enable these customers to trade in a global marketplace."
"High-tech manufacturing is the largest vertical segment in Taiwan, and these companies are facing increasing global competition," president, UPS North Asia KK Leung said.
