IAG Cargo is commencing service to Montevideo in Uruguay and Santa Domingo in the Dominican Republic from September 1, and will build on the strength of its network in Latin America, which will grow to 16 destinations.
Flying from Madrid on an Iberia Airbus A330 and A340-300, each flight will have nine and 13 tonnes capacity on to Santo Domingo and between 6.5 and 11.7 tonnes of capacity on the Madrid-Montevideo route.
"We see this service being particularly important for perishables producers looking to supply European countries and Asian manufacturers looking for routes into Latin America," said IAG vice president Rodrigo Casal.
The new routes will be operated five times to Santo Domingo and four times a week to Montevideo.
