The Polish city of Swidnik inaugurates Lublin, its new airport, a SENER project

Lublin' airport has celebrated its official opening ceremony in the presence of the airport's President, Grzegorz Muszy¨˝ski and the Polish Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy, Slawomir Nowak, among other personalities. In this project, SENER, in consortium with the Polish companies ARE and Polconsult, has carried out the constructive project.
The airport company 'Port Lotniczy Lublin' awarded, at the end of 2008, to the consortium lead by SENER, the constructive project of Lublin's airport in the Polish city of Swidnik. SENER, within the construction consortium, has been responsible for the project global management and airport support to the architecture company ARE. Likewise, SENER has worked on the buildings construction, on the main platform for aircraft parking space, on the car parking and on all the entries.
Furthermore, the same group of companies, headed by SENER, was responsible for the architectural and urban concept elaboration of this airport, including the complete flights field (landing strips, taxi zones and platforms), the terminal building, with an initial capacity for a million passengers a year; the air traffic control tower, the administration building, the technical and maintenance facilities (fuel base, firemen corps and technical base), the heliport, the parking zone and all the entries connecting to the existent on ground infrastructures. Among the entire project, should be highlighted the terminal design, presenting a futurist, comfortable and clear building.
The airport, whose first flight is expected for December 17, will admit 300,000 passengers in its first operation year and in it will be operating the low cost companies Ryanair and Wizz Air.
SENER has offices in Poland since January 2007, from which engineering and construction projects are carried out in the Civil and Architecture sector and also in the Power and Process area. In Civil and Architecture, SENER plays a leading role in the country.
This way, SENER in Poland has developed works on roads, such as the design of several sections in the A1 and A2 Motorways; metros, with the technical study of Warsaw Metro Line 3, for example; railways, with several works for the railway lines lodz Widzew - lodz Fabryczna, Warsaw - lodz, and the section from lodz Fabryczna railway station up to lines 14, 25 and line 15, or preparation of standards for High Speed Rail in Poland, among others; stations, such as the design of Ursus train station multi level parking; singular buildings, such as the Krakow Soccer Stadium, where SENER has worked in order to renew the facilities in light of the Eurocup 2012 celebration; and airports, taken part in the regional Lublin Airport, inaugurated yesterday, the Rzeszow Airport, the Podlasie Airport and the Warsaw Chopin Airport.
