Hong Kong's Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) reports a better than expected November that saw throughput increase 12 per cent year on year to 69,150 tonnes. "There is a strong rebound over previous months," said AAT general manager Kenneth Yeung. Driven by the launch of hi-tech consumer products, in November we saw an uptick in the exports to North America and Europe and imports from southwest Pacific. Exports were up 13 per cent to 49,887 tonnes year on year while imports were up nine per cent to 18,869 tonnes, but transshipments slipped 11 per cent to 395 tonnes over the same period. From January to November, cumulative exports were up three per cent to 451,302 tonnes, while imports increased two per cent to 194,055 tonnes year on year cumulative transshipments suffered a 45 per cent drop to 5,458 tonnes compared to the same period last year, according to the Shipping Gazette. |
