Crude oil futures closed mixed Thursday after U.S. gasoline reserves rose more than expected.

Light, sweet crude for August delivery fell 26 cents to close at 72.50 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude for August delivery rose 96 cents to settle at 76. 40 dollars a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange in London, after hitting 77 dollars per barrel.
