Wonderful Transportation Ltd: Eyes on Supply Chain Management and Network Establishment
POSTED: 11:23 a.m. EDT, August 9,2007

Wonderful Transportation Ltd. was started in 1997 at Hong Kong, with branch offices in Shenzhen and Shanghai (Class A Forwarder License). They are able to offer professional and trailor-made global logistics solutions for all customers through their well-established overseas networks covering more than 180 cities around the world. The website is http://www.ewtl.com.

In China freight forwarding market, lots of companies pay attention to how to attract customers. However, Wonderful International Corp. eyes on supply chain management and the establishment of networks, which is considered to be a long term strategy to bring it quite great development.

Mr. Hu Lianqing, the manager of Shenzhen Wonderful Transportation Ltd, shows his opinions towards the development of Wonderful Transportation Ltd and logistics industry in the interview.

Core value

In Shenzhen, the core of the values of Wonderful Transport Ltd is ¡°service with heart¡±. All the staff is trained with the value during their work. The chief manager is a persistent and thoughtful person, who encourages others with his hard work and line of duty. Maybe no everyone can recite the values, but they can do as the value tells them in their work.

Airfreight Market in Shenzhen

Although airfreight costs a little more compared with shipping, Mr. Hu believes air transport market still has a huge space for him to develop, because he knows clearly what customers really need. For large sellers, they care for the flow of supply, in other words, they will never let saleable goods delayed on the transportation.

Take the goods Wonderful Transportation Ltd transports for example. There are 40 vessels transported by air, costing total eight million yuan. If there are 10 thousand pieces of goods per vessel, so each costs 120 yuan after adding the transport charges. The seller still has more than 100 yuan profit from one piece of goods if he sells each at price of 300 yuan. As the result, they pay more attentions to whether their goods can be transported quickly and safely, rather than the transport charges.

The competition of cost is going more and more furious while the profit became lower and lower, but Mr. Hu still believes that airfreight is an industry full of huge profit, and most SMEs only gain a little profit simply because large international companies win most profit contribute to their perfect management system.

Updating Mind with Changing Market

Wonderful Transportation Ltd provides service through internet, in order to win more customers. EMS, DHL, UPS, and TNT also have powerful network system and lots of branch offices. Compared with those large companies, small freight forwarding companies have to update their mind with the changing market, Mr. Hu says. Internet can help them to lower cost while maintain their service level.

Responsible for Accidents in Transportation

Talking about the cases of the damage and loss of goods, Mr. Hu shows his responsibility for these accidents. He says they will do their best to avoid this kind of problem and solve it in time once it happens, because it is their mission to create value for customers with their professional services. Although no one can promise no accident will emerge during transportation, they can minimize the probability of the accidents. Of course, insurance is also necessary.

Future plans

As to the plan and target of Wonderful Transportation Ltd, Mr. Hu considers it is still a small-sized enterprise with total about 100 workers. He hopes that Wonderful Transportation Ltd will be an international corporation which provides internationalized services. As the result, he plans to establish overseas branch offices from America to Europe, and the supply chain management and integration of information are on the way. His next step is to make e-business come true, including the management of repository, betterment of the company¡¯s website, payment online system, call center, and so on.

After two or three months¡¯ evaluation, he actualizes his plans step by step. Mr. Wu says it is necessary for them to do so because they have to provide better service to customers in order to gain more market.
