Shanghai's logistics industry ranked first in China
POSTED: 2:37 p.m. EDT, October 27,2006

Forbes China has ranked Shanghai as the number one city on the mainland in terms of its logistics capabilities, followed by Guangzhou and Ningbo in second and third place, respectively.

The survey on "China's best places for logistics development" examined the logistics practices of companies based in 661 cities across the mainland in making its assessment.

Ranked in fourth to 10 place were: Hangzhou, Yantai, Jinhua, Beijing, Jinan, Dongguan and Shenzhen, the report said.

The Forbes' poll based its findings on the size of the logistics market, the cost of doing business in a particular city and the extent of its transportation infrastructure, which looked at how the railway, highway and waterway system as well as its airports were developing.
