U.S. food company recalls ice cream
POSTED: 9:41 a.m. EDT, September 21,2007

A division of The Kroger Co. recalled Thursday one flavor of Private Selection ice cream because it may contain eggs, which aren't on the ingredient list.

All codes of Private Selection Classic Churned Light Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream in 1.75-quart containers are being recalled, according to a company statement.

For most consumers, there is no safety issue with the ice cream, but people who have an allergy to eggs "run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product," according to the statement.

No illnesses have been reported from eating the ice cream, which was distributed only to Ralphs stores in California and Food4 Less stores in Southern California, according to Kroger.

No other Private Selection Ice Cream products are affected by the recall.

Customers may return the product to a Ralphs or Food 4 Less store for a full refund.
