The Yangon Airways, one of the four Myanmar private airlines, is planning to launch international flight services on charter basis, local private media reported Sunday.
The Yangon Airways, which flies nearly a dozen domestic destinations including Mandalay, Bagan, Nay Pyi Taw, Heho and Kengtung, will add international destinations such as Bangkok, Chiangmai, Singapore and China on charter basis, Monday's Voice, pre-published on Sunday, quoted the airline as saying.
Meanwhile, it also plans to introduce flight service between Yangon and Ngapali's Thandwe, one of the three most famous resorts of Myanmar, by the open season of November.
Yangon Airways was originally set up in October 1996 on a joint venture basis between the state-run Myanma Airways and the Krong Sombat Co Ltd of Thailand but the Thai share was reportedly later taken over by the private Myanmr Mayflower Co. Ltd..
The other three private airlines in the country are the Myanmar Airways International (MAI), Air Mandalay and Air Bagan.
In addition to these private airlines, there are also 14 foreign ones flying Yangon which include Thai Airways International, Indian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Silk Air, Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Jetstar Asia, Phuket Airline and Thai Air Asia.
