Airbus A380 to land on most world airports
POSTED: 9:28 a.m. EDT, August 1,2007

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, have authorized the Airbus A380 to land on 45-meter wide runways, the European plane manufacturer said in a statement Tuesday.

"The A380 has already landed on 45 airports across the world and is scheduled to land on 70 more airports by 2011," according to the statement.

According to the EASA and FAA, the A380, which is the world's largest long-range aircraft, has been shown to be safely controllable as it possesses the navigation equipment necessary for safe landing on runways that are 45-meters wide or more.

According to international aviation authorities, the width of runways for international airports is supposed to measure 45-meters or more.
