Visiting Cuban Communist Party (CCP) Foreign Secretary Fernando Remirez de Estenoz Barciela here on Monday promised to strengthen cooperation with Angola in various fields, especially in health, education and energy.
"Now that Angola is in peace and in a national reconstruction process, there are many possibilities to expand the cooperation in the fields of public health, education, energy and other economic sectors," Fernando Barciela said.
Speaking at a news briefing before he left for home at the Luanda international airport, Fernando Barciela, head of a CCP delegation to Angola, said the two countries have to work towards enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The CCP foreign secretary described his delegation''s five-day visit to Angola as "satisfactory" which brought him and his delegation to the provinces of Kwanza Sul and Benguela where they learned of the reality in those provinces under the leadership of the ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA).
"At all meetings the delegation held with officials of the MPLA, National Assembly and the government, the historical ties between Cuba and Angola were reaffirmed and we are leaving very satisfied for the friendship, warmth and solidarity we have found in Angola, " he said.
During their stay in Angola, the Cuban delegation held contacts with MPLA Central Committee officials, the National Assembly, Benguela and Kwanza Sul provincial governments and the Angola-Cuba Friendship Association.
The delegation also laid a wreath at the monument to the first and late president of Angola Antonio Agostinho Neto at Luanda''s Independence Square and paid homage to the Cuban heroes who fell in Angola during the war.
Seeing off the Cuban delegation was the ruling MPLA Foreign Secretary Paulo Teixeira Jorge.
