South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said Friday that his government had accepted a U.S. request to revise the bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) before the two sides formally sign the deal by the end of June.
At a breakfast meeting with journalists, Han said South Korea agreed with the U.S. to change parts of the agreement to include tougher labor and environmental standards.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed Han's remarks and announced in a statement that South Korean Trade Minister Kim Hyun-chong and U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab will sign the deal on June 30 in Washington.
