Mainland, Macao trade seminar to be held later in May

The 2007 Zhuhai-Macao Seminar on Investment Promotion and Trade Exchange will be held in Zhuhai on May 28, organizers said on Tuesday.

Chen Honghui, mayor of Zhuhai, a city in China's southern Guangdong province, told a press conference that the seminar has gained support from the chambers of commerce of Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, Japan and Australia.

Some 400 government representatives and businessmen are to attend the event, said the official.

Workshops on Zhuhai-Macao Cross Border Industrial Zone, on Harbor Logistics and Heavy Chemical Industry and on IT industry are to be launched during the seminar, he said.

The seminar will hopefully see an agreement signing ceremony for 19 cooperation projects with a total investment volume of 1.34 billion U.S. dollars, said the Zhuhai mayor.
