POSTED: 2:51 p.m. EDT, February 27,2007

Vietnam has won a bid to export 14,000 tonnes of rice to Japan, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

The successful bid, the second so far this year, brought the volume of rice to be exported to Japan to 28,000 tonnes with a price of US$528.60 per tonne.

The association reminded Vietnamese exporters to strictly follow food hygiene standards as there will be other rice export biddings to high demand markets this year.
