Vietnam : Trade ties with Bulgaria to be strengthened

Vietnam and Bulgaria signed together three agreements on economic, tourism and healthcare cooperation that will lead bilateral relations between the two countries to great heights.

This agreement took place after talks between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam and Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev of Bulgaria in Hanoi.

According to joint statement released, both the sides agreed to work mutually on expanding and diversifying economic, trade and investment relations.

It also mentioned about the encouragement by the two countries for enterprises to build direct links and attend trade fairs.

During visit, Stanishev also participated in Vietnam-Bulgaria business forum and discussed about areas of cooperation with potential local partners.

Two-way trade remained average when it increased from US $19.7 million in 1996 to US $22 million in 2005.

Vietnam's main exports to Bulgaria are coal, coffee, rubber, seafood, handicrafts, garments, textiles and footwear, imports chemicals, medicines, wines, machines and equipment for ship building.
