Wall Street opened higher Thursday morning with the Dow Jones average rising above the 14,000 milestone on upbeat earnings reports.
Profit reports from companies like Honeywell International Inc., Bank of America Corp. and Continental Airlines Inc. helped push stocks higher.
The Dow Jones average rose 84.30 to 14,002.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 7.31 to 1,553.47, while the Nasdaq composite index rose 17.99 to 2,717.58.
The Dow hit 14,000 for the first time on Tuesday, setting the 31st record high since the beginning of this year.
On Wednesday, Wall Street declined due to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's comments on the economy.
Bernanke said before the House Financial Services panel that the U.S. economy should strengthen into 2008 and inflation risks remain the Fed's "predominant" concern.
