Leading Chinese companies participated in the China Machinery and Electronics Trade Exhibition that kicked off Thursday in Jakarta, displaying a wide range of high-tech products from agriculture machines to cars.
The event gave an opportunity for Chinese automakers to promote their products after Chery Automobile and Geely International Corp. made their Indonesian debuts in recent months.
Chery was present at the event alongside Great Wall Motors.
Organized by the China Chamber of International Commerce, the exhibition at the Kemayoran Fair Ground will run until Sunday.
Liang Haiguang, director of China Council for promotion of international trade, said 54 Chinese companies were taking part inthe show.
"They come here to learn about the Indonesian market and establish cooperation with local partners. We hope there will be new investments here after the show," he said at the opening ceremony.
