Direct shipping line linking Romania with China
POSTED: 8:58 a.m. EDT, May 10,2007

The multinational company Maersk Line inaugurated on Wednesday the direct container shipping line between Asia and the Port of Constanta.

"The main reason for establishing this new route was the forecast of a 15-20 percent increase in Europe-China commercial exchanges in the next years," Maersk Romania managing director Kenneth Pedersen told a press conference.

The new maritime line turns Constanta into the revolving plate of containerized shipments between Europe and Asia, from the Black Sea, he said.

The new Maersk container sea shipment line is serviced by eight ships with 5,000 TEU and 550 freezer containers, that will arrive at the Constanta Port terminals at a rate of five ships per week," said the company manager.
