Chinese stocks down after straight rise for days, with record turnover

The Chinese stock markets closed mixed Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 12.76 points or 0.36 percent to 3,518.27 points from the previous close, while the Shenzhen Component Index rose 55.14 points or 0.55 percent to 10019.92 points.

The total turnover of the two markets set a new record high of 260.912 billion yuan (about 33.80 billion U.S. dollars).
