POSTED: 10:32 a.m. EDT, January 8,2007

After acquiring 30 domestic breweries, Tsingtao Beer Group, China's biggest beer brewery, is busy preparing to start production lines in Malaysia and Tsingtao production lines in .

Peng Zuoyi, president of Tsingtao Beer, said the corporation aims to increase its annual beer output to 8 million tons in 10 years, making the brand Tsingtao one of the most famous in the world.

Tsingtao Beer, built by German investors in 1903 in Qingdao, a major coastal city in east China's Shandong Province, is China's first beer brewery.

Over the past years, it has brought up its annual production capacity to 1.8 million tons. Products from Tsingtao Beer account for more than half of the country's beer exports.

"Although Tsingtao beer is sold in 40 countries including the United States, Germany and Japan, it is still not comparable to some foreign brands in terms of output and public recognition," Peng said.

Peng said that Tsingtao Beer has decided to give priority to further tapping the international market over the next 10 years.

While starting production in foreign countries, the corporation will try to promote sales abroad by cooperating with international marketing businesses, Peng added.
