Indonesia to boost export to China
POSTED: 10:01 a.m. EDT, November 5,2006
JAKARTA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is making efforts to significantly boost export to China to offset the slowing growth of trade with main trading partners like Japan and the United States, an official said Friday.

"Indonesia's main markets in the United States, European countries as well as Japan are suffering slower growth," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu was quoted by the country's leading news website Detikcom as saying.

Indonesia is now exploring opportunities from the rapid growth in China and aiming to fill China's growing demand for natural resources like rubber, wood, cacao, coffee, food and farming products, she said at her office here.

Bilateral trade volume with China is expected to reach 20 billion U.S. dollars next year, she said, adding that the bilateral trade volume is projected to reach 15 billion dollars this year.

Indonesia and China have agreed to boost trade volume to 30 billion dollars by 2010.
