Leader of Quebec's separatist party to resign
POSTED: 9:33 a.m. EDT, May 9,2007
The leader of the Parti Quebecois, the separatist party, is expected to announce his resignation Tuesday, reports said.

"Andre Boisclair has been in a lot of trouble politically since the provincial election. Now it seems all but certain that he's going to resign this morning," a CTV reporter said.

Under Andre Boisclair's leadership, the Parti Quebecois suffered a serious setback in March's provincial election. The party gained only 36 seats, relegated to third-party status for the first time since the 1973 election.

Federal separatist party Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe has been rumored to be interested in moving into provincial politics as a possible replacement for Boisclair, according to some reports.
