South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are test-running trains on re-built rail lines across their heavily armed border.
This morning, a total of 150 passengers climbed aboard a South Korean train following a joint ceremony at the Munsan station. One hundred of the passengers are from South Korea and fifty are from the DPRK.
The train pulled out of the station along the Gyeongui line towards the DPRK's Kaesong station. It will be the first train to cross the Military Demarcation Line on the peninsula since the railway system was severed in 1951.
Meanwhile, a DPRK train has started toward South Korea along the Donghae Line. Both trains will return later today after spending a few hours on the opposite side.
