Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with former Portuguese President Antonio Dos Santos Ramalho Eanes in Beijing on Wednesday, calling for concerted efforts to further push forward China-Portugal all-round strategic partnership.
Tang appreciated Eanes' contributions to the establishment of China-Portugal diplomatic links and the development of bilateral ties.
He called on the two countries to carefully implement the important consensus leaders of the two countries had reached in setting up China-Portugal all-round strategic partnership, and strengthen consultation and coordination in bilateral and international affairs.
Eanes said China has made eye-catching achievements in economic and social development. He said he would continue to devote himself to further boosting bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism and technology.
The former Portuguese president reiterated his country's firm adherence to the one-China policy.
Eanes served as Portuguese president from July 1976 to February 1986.
