POSTED: 9:15 a.m. EDT, July 16,2007
Visiting China's Special Envoy on the Middle East issue Sun Bigan on Sunday called for peace negotiation among all sides concerned to promote tangible progress for the Middle East peace process, including the Palestinian-Israeli issue.

The Chinese diplomat made the remarks during his talks here with Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Hani Khallaf.

He said peace negotiation should be insisted by all sides no matter how the situation changes.

Sun elaborated China's stance on the developments of the Palestinian-Israeli situation, highlighting Egypt's efforts to boost the unity of the Palestinians and the Middle East peace process.

For his part, Khallaf highly evaluated China's impartial stand on the Mideast issue, adding that Egypt attached great importance to China's role of promoting peace and negotiation among all sides concerned.

He also expressed Egypt's keenness to enhance communication and cooperation with China in this regard.

Sun, who arrived here on Saturday for a three-day visit, is scheduled to meet Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Monday.

Egypt is the first stop of Sun's tour of the Middle East region, which will also take him to Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories.
