China Continues helping Africa
POSTED: 10:50 a.m. EDT, May 14,2007

The Chinese government is willing to coordinate with the international community to help Africa develop self-developing capabilities.

Vice Minister of Commerce, Wei Jianguo made an address on Development Finance and China-Africa Economic Cooperation at a seminar in Shanghai on Sunday.

The vice minister said that economic globalization has brought great opportunities to all countries in the world, however, it has also produced a number of challenges for Africa. A peaceful and prosperous Africa will benefit development worldwide.

The international community should pay close attention to the efforts made by African countries towards regional peace and economic development, and should help the continent solve its existing development problems, such as debts, poverty, and lack of infrastructure.

Vice-Governor of the China Development Bank (CDB), Gao Jian, said that the African Development Bank and other regional financial organizations are the major forces in developing the continent, and the CDB will carry out broad cooperation with them.
