Senior official asks China's political advisors to learn more
POSTED: 9:24 a.m. EDT, May 11,2007

Senior Chinese official Jia Qinglin on Thursday asked members of China's top political advisory body to learn more about political advisory so as to better perform their duties.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the appeals at the opening ceremony of a seminar prepared for members of the Tenth National Committee of CPPCC.

"Learning is the driving force for us to promote the course of political consultation and in this way, socialist democracy will be better manifested," Jia said.

The seminar, scheduled to last 4 days, is the eighth of its kind for members of the Tenth National Committee of CPPCC.

The CPPCC is a patriotic united front organization of the Chinese people, serving as a key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and a major manifestation of socialist democracy.
