China posts robust growth in export of electronic information products
POSTED: 9:37 a.m. EDT, December 6,2006

China's export of electronic information products hit 288.62 billion U.S. dollars in the first ten months, up 37.2 percent year on year, said the Ministry of Information Industry on Tuesday.

The gain was 10.4 percentage points higher than the national export growth of the same period.

From January to October, more than a third of the country's total export came from computers, mobile phones, digital cameras, printers, fax machines, digital televisions and other products of the electronic information sector.

The products recorded a 35.1 percent year-on-year rise in their total foreign trade volume, which reached 520 billion U.S. dollars in the January-October period.

China has seen a continuous improvement in the research, development and manufacturing of network devices and products of optical and mobile communications, said the Ministry.

The country's electronic information industry has sold products to more than 100 countries and districts, providing communications equipment for over 400 telecommunication operators worldwide.
