Chinese shares open higher on Tuesday

Chinese shares opened higher on Tuesday following a drastic jump in share prices on the previous trading day.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened at 2,189.69 points, up 9.2 points, or 0.42 percent higher.

The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and foreign-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, climbed by 4.15 percent to 2,180 points on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component Index went up 5.49 percent to 5,951 points.
