The number of U.S. troops deployed in Iraq stands at about 153,553, and the number in Afghanistan is 25,945, U.S. President George W. Bush said Friday.
Bush revealed the figures in a letter to the House speaker and the Senate president pro tempore.
Of the American soldiers in Afghanistan, about 14,340 are assigned to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Bush said in the letter, a supplemental consolidated report he said was designed to keep Congress informed about deployments of U.S. combat-equipped Armed Forces around the world.
All 26 NATO nations and 12 non-NATO countries contribute to the ISAF, he said.
In Kosovo, the United States has deployed about 1,584 military personnel, or about 10 percent of the NATO-led Kosovo Force, according to Bush.
