The Port of Redwood City opened a new, $17 million wharf on Wednesday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 430-foot-long and 60-foot-wide concrete wharf, located at the northern end of the Redwood Harbor Ship Channel, can accommodate larger ships, two at a time.
"This is the little port that could," Rep. Jackie Speier said after the ceremony. "It's a great example of how the Redwood City port is really fueling the growth and economic development for Silicon Valley. All of the aggregate and concrete that you see being used on all the big projects in this region are coming through this port."
