The spate of ship arrests in Singapore continues with news the admiralty sheriff has arrested a Cosco-owned panamax bulker.
According to news reports the Panama-flagged 72,437-dwt Fu Kang (built 1997) was detained on Monday on the orders of lawyers from Oon & Bazul.
While no-one has outlined the reasons behind the arrest, experts consider it to be related to outstanding payments for services.
The Fu Kang is the second Cosco ship to be arrested in Singapore in consecutive months. The vessel Da Cui Yun was arrested in early December over alleged unpaid charter hire and consumed bunkers worth $750,000.
